Psychotherapeutic

Services

Since qualifying as a counsellor, I have worked for ten years within organisations and for charities supporting adults, young people and young adults with their emotional health and well-being. My work has enabled me to support many people of all ages from diverse social backgrounds, different cultures, working with neurodiversity and varying genders and sexualities. I worked for several years as a counsellor in further education colleges, as a school counsellor in secondary schools and for The Family Counselling Trust, a charity providing counselling for children, young people and their families. I worked as a psychotherapeutic counsellor for an eating disorder charity supporting adults and young people with all presentations of disordered eating. I was the LGBTQ+ counsellor for a mental health charity in Bath. I now have a full time private practice conveniently located in a beautiful and peaceful area in Bath. My previous career has been diverse and consistent allowing me to work with people from all walks of life. As a manager responsible for the co-ordination of youth work services across areas of Somerset, with the education system and charities supporting homeless people, young adult mental health and people with eating disorders.

As modern life becomes ever more complex, it has become more prevalent to explore ways of enabling younger generations to manage the stresses that lead to many issues. My recent academic research studies through my MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice focused on designing, creating and facilitating a therapeutic programme delivered in schools called RISE (Resilience In Secondary Education). RISE enables students to develop and build their emotional resilience skills and resources to apply to their everyday lives through gaining a deeper sense of self-awareness, self-compassion and tolerance in these changing times that we live in.

Each therapeutic relationship is unique and individual. My approach is creative and holistic informed by my integrative counselling trainings, somatic trauma and therapy, Core-Process psychotherapy allowing a depth that promotes intentional, and conscious healing. My aim is to create a space in which you feel able to reconnect to your deeper sense of self in the present and feel less identified with patterns and disconnection that are no longer working for you. What motivates my work is that I see the potential in every client and honour the wisdom of your own inner healer. My wish is to create opportunities for you to follow your process as it unfolds and to make the changes that you want and need in your present life.

I am qualified in counselling children where I work through play therapy and creative mediums to facilitate expression, validation, and awareness of their inner worlds, and this becomes increasingly mixed with talking, practical and resilience building therapies for older children.

‘From the very first hours of our lives through to our last moments, kindness, gentleness, warmth and compassion are the things that can sustain us and help us bear the setbacks, tragedies and suffering that life will rain on us’.

How I work

I offer short-term counselling for a minimum of 6 sessions initially and we would take some time to review our work at session 6. I offer longer term psychotherapy which is more open ended depending on the client's needs. As part of my 4 year Mindfulnes-Based Core-Process Psychotherapy Training with the Karuna Institute, I offer longer term Core-Process Psychotherapy as part of my clinical training enquiring into human experience at different levels and, if appropriate, working somatically, creatively, imaginatively, and expressively.

I offer predominantly face to face therapy and ocassional online therapy.

I also offer craniosacral therapy sessions to adults and young people at my private practice in a peaceful, warm and calming therapy space. Sessions are 1 hour. Sessions range in quantity from a couple of sessions to several sessions for bodywork treatment.
